Analgesic

An analgesic is a type of medication that is used to relieve pain without causing a loss of consciousness. It is commonly referred to as a painkiller. Analgesics work by blocking pain signals in the nervous system or by reducing the brain's perception of pain.

There are different classes of analgesics, including:

Nonsteroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs (NSAIDs): These drugs reduce inflammation and pain. Common examples include ibuprofen, aspirin, and naproxen.

Acetaminophen (Paracetamol): This medication is effective for reducing pain and fever but has little anti-inflammatory effect. It is often used for mild to moderate pain relief.
